This hands-on program leads you through creating your plan, how to make that plan work, involving and educating key board members, and how to overcome obstacles and evaluate your efforts. This 12-month program requires commitment to building a successful program.

This program is for people who want action – not for observers or the curious.

One On One Interaction Is Emphasized

This program will be limited to ten to twelve organizations all of which begin the program with the purpose of creating and building a planned giving program. Participants will include a mix of organizations. Yes, you can read a book, subscribe to newsletters, and go to quarterly meetings. But will the result be an effective planned giving program? Many books and newsletters are written for and by experts who focus on large, established institutions – not charitable organizations like yours.

Only the Serious Need Apply

Are you committed to starting a program? This program is for people who want to get to work building a successful program. A successful applicant will have Board approval to submit their application. Ultimately without Board interest and involvement a planned giving program is likely to fail. So let’s start with the odds in everyone’s favor and get the interest of the Board today. Homework will be involved as well.

Long Enough to Ensure Success

The primary reason planned giving programs fail is lack of persistence over time. As a result, this program is 12 months in length. You will learn about planned giving concepts and the differences between your organization and those competing for planned gifts from YOUR donors. With expert assistance, you will create your own plan. You will receive skilled support implementing your plan and learn from the successes of other participant organizations (mistakes too – these are often more valuable to learn about).
